ST. PAUL – Following yesterday’s release of health insurance rate increases of 10-21.4% in the small group and individual market, Rep. Jeff Backer, R-Browns Valley, released the following statement:
“Once again, Minnesota families and small businesses are being asked to pay more for health care while Democrats continue to push costly mandates and mismanage taxpayer dollars. Minnesotans are already feeling the pressure from rising costs, and these increases only add to that burden.
House Republicans have been working to find ways to make health care more affordable and protect Minnesotans from unnecessary cost increases. Our reinsurance program has helped keep premiums from rising even higher, and we need to continue looking for responsible solutions that provide real relief.
Minnesotans deserve a health care system that is affordable, accessible and accountable. House Republicans will continue working to lower costs, protect taxpayers and make sure families and small businesses aren’t left footing the bill for government mandates and mismanagement.”
