Expect detours for North Shore Inline Marathon in Duluth Sept. 19 (Sept. 15, 2026)

DULUTH, Minn. –  The Minnesota Department of Transportation encourages motorists to plan for detours and delays due to the North Shore Inline Marathon on Saturday, Sept. 19.

I-35 and Highway 61 will be detoured in Duluth to accommodate the marathon starting at 6 a.m. The northbound detour will start at Mesaba Avenue and travel on city streets before returning to the Highway 61 expressway. The southbound detour will take Superior St to city streets, and due to area construction, traffic will return to I-35 at 27th Ave W.

Detour routes will be signed.

Closures for the event are expected to be lifted around 2 p.m.
